"CRIES OF WAR"
This exhibition tells the story of people from Ukraine in different countries: Germany, Japan, Canada and Moldova. The project participants tell their life stories before the war, how they survived the war and about their adaptation in new countries.
“Dachless” Between worlds.
This photo and video project explores individuals who have partially or fully stepped away from a Hasidic community. While some still observe certain practices and others do not, Hasidic philosophy and worldview remain part of their inner lives. The project consists of a photographic exhibition and a video installation, where participants dance to express their emotions and speak in Yiddish about their past and present. It is a project about life between worlds.
"YIDDISHLAND"
This photography project, started by Shendl in 2015, aims to show the beauty and diversity of the world of Yiddish culture around the globe. As part of this roll, she takes photos and conducts interviews with musicians, dancers, actors and directors working in this field.
"YIDDISHLAND" Artists
This page brings together portraits of artists working within contemporary Yiddish culture. Photographed across different countries, these musicians and performers represent a living Yiddishland — not as a place, but as a shared cultural space carried through language, music, and artistic expression. Through these portraits, the project focuses on the people who continue to shape and sustain Yiddish culture today.
"JEWS AROUND ME"
Jewish communities in Europe today are made up of a collection of diverse individuals – each one a single person, with a unique history and spirit. Jews Around Me is a travelling portrait photography and video project capturing the diverse faces of Jews in different countries and communities throughout the continent.
