This interdisciplinary photo and video project examines the lives of individuals who have partially or fully left a Hasidic community. While some have ceased all observances and others still retain certain practices, Hasidic philosophy, values, and modes of thinking remain deeply embedded within them. This project explores their transition into secular society—a transition marked by personal rupture, loss of familial connection, and the search for belonging. The project consists of a photography exhibition and a video installation. In the video, participants dance—using movement to express emotions such as grief, confusion, and hope—while their voices, in Yiddish, share reflections on their past and present. Through still images, movement, and language, the project offers a nuanced portrait of living between worlds.
